These 17 year cicadas are very sluggish and slow. They only start to try and fly once you actually pick them up lol. All the other cicada species fly off if you are even 10 feet distance from them. When the 17 year cicadas emerge they are everywhere and birds, dogs, ants and anything else that eats insects have a feast on them.
