We have 16 varieties of [Weaver Birds South Africa](https://southafrica.co.za/weaver-birds.html) a couple listed on this link. You are possibly right with identification although I put this as Southern Masked Weaver, not invasive here in it's natural habitat, we are no where near grain fields, possibly do short migratory flights inland taking from fields. We get the Village Weaver with red eye as well, sometimes a few varieties arrive making it more difficult to tell apart. Quelea quelea (weaver bird) a much smaller bird wipes out vast fields of grain, this one I have witnessed swarming through in great numbers when in farming district inland from where we live.
