Do you find this happens often?

I find it does, partly because there are some people who take stock of events and circumstances and then try to work out what they mean in combination - many people these days grab headlines and then move onto the next without connecting a dot - a fragmented view of the world and one that isn't conducive to building a coherent approach to action.

Yes, I do find it happens often. I believe - partly - that it is because one can't listen to advice he doesn't want to hear. 

He just glides over the words without paying too much attention.

Yes for sure. There is also the recall factor - like buying a new car and then seeing the same model everywhere suddenly. We look for what is on our mind.
