I have noticed a definite sense of instant non-gratification

Is it from getting older? Do we learn about our preferences better, so then we can more easily identify what isn't going to satisfy us?

I'm not sure, I think it is from getting older, but just not sure. I know it does not take as long for me to decide if I like a TV program/Movie, or a book/story. Perhaps we are just at the point of exploring more to find new likes for that instant hit of gratification. More exploration, more non-gratification.

This is also the issue with over consumption - it dilutes the intensity and when it comes to personal relationships, can lead to a lot of non-gratification, but in a way that makes people bitter or skeptical of forming any relationships.
