In my case I lose power too as it is a required safety mechanism to protect engineers working on the powerlines. You need extra equipment to run off-grid. Our power very rarely goes out.

Ah, then I understand. I rely on my neighbor that he recently owns it. So you need extra equipment to operate off the grid. That would definitely help. Here in Brazil there are times when these energy peaks are really annoying... Thanks for explaining it to me.
