<P><div class="text-justify">Greetings to everyone in the Worldmappin community! Today I'm joining you to share a new installment of Tourism in Carabobo. This time, I'm bringing you a review of José Antonio Páez Square and the San Blas Church, located in the historic center of San Blas. This parish in particular is one of the oldest in the state, dating back to the construction of its church by Father José Gregorio Febres Cordero, which was completed in 1883. This is how many towns in Venezuela are founded, based on their churches and squares. This religious devotion generates a social and cultural movement. There, on the banks of the Cabriales River, its surrounding colonial architecture (simple, modest, and beautiful) welcomes us to its square and church. Join me.</div></P> 

<P><div class="text-justify">Curiously, Colombia Street, which leads to Plaza José Antonio Páez and the Church of San Blas, is also the same street that houses Plaza Bolívar de Valencia and the Holy Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Socorro, as well as Plaza Sucre and the Church of San Francisco. So, in total, three churches and three squares are located on the same street, connected by the Morillo Bridge, making it one of the most important streets in Valencia. Also known as Calle Real, it was used by the Royalists during the colonial era. It was also one of the points where the Valencia Tram (Calle Colombia, Camoruco, Palotal, Camoruco, and others) passed through, being the first rail transport in the city. This milestone is still fondly remembered, and long-standing residents often talk about it. In some areas, the old rails can be found.</div></P>

><P><div class="text-justify">¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Worldmappin! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva entrega de Turismo en Carabobo. En esta oportunidad les traigo una reseña sobre la Plaza José Antonio Páez y la Iglesia de San Blas, las cuales se ubican en el casco histórico de San Blas. Esta parroquia en específico es una de las más longevas del estado, dando su origen a partir de la construcción de su iglesia por el Padre José Gregorio Febres Cordero y que fue concluida en el año de 1883. Así es cómo se fundan muchos de los pueblos de Venezuela,a partir de sus iglesias y sus plazas. Esa devoción religiosa que genera un movimiento social y cultural. Allí, a orillas del Río Cabriales, sus edificios de alrededor de arquitectura colonial (sencilla, modesta y bella), nos dan la bienvenida a su plaza y su iglesia. Acompáñenme.</div></P>

><P><div class="text-justify">Resulta curioso que la Calle Colombia, que es por dónde se llega a la plaza José Antonio Páez y a la Iglesia de San Blas, es también la misma calle por dónde se encuentran La Plaza Bolívar de Valencia y la Santa Iglesia Basílica Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Socorro, así cómo La Plaza Sucre y la Iglesia San Francisco. Por lo que en total, tres iglesias y tres plazas se encuentran en la misma calle unidas a través del Puente Morillo, haciéndola una de las calles más importantes de Valencia. Conocida también cómo la Calle Real, usada por los Realistas durante la época colonial. También, fue uno de los puntos por dónde tránsito el Tranvía de Valencia (Calle Colombia, Camoruco, Palotal, Camoruco y otros), siendo el primer transporte sobre rieles de la ciudad. Aún este hito se recuerda con emoción y los ciudadanos más longevos suelen hablar al respecto. En algunas zonas se pueden encontrar los antiguos rieles.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">Returning to Plaza de Páez, i hadn't been there in a few years, so I was surprised to find it had been remodeled. Previously, the plaza was filled with trees, block walkways, and concrete benches, which made it look picturesque and in keeping with the aesthetics of the church (both from the same period). Today, its style is more modern, although to be honest, I don't really like the idea of artificial grass, lots of cement, and few trees. I think the charm of the plaza has been somewhat diminished by the "standard" plaza that has been implemented everywhere in Valencia. Now, the fact that they've installed the statue of Páez, made by Andrés Pérez Mujica, is a success. They also added a high relief of a moment where Bolívar names Páez. It seems that the artist of this latter sculpture is the same one who created the sculptures in Plaza Bolívar in Valencia.</div></P>

<P><div class="text-justify">On the other hand, the church looks just as impressive and beautiful. It hasn't changed much, so that's something to be grateful for.  A fact about it is that there used to be a statue of Saint Blaise at the top of the church, but it seems that due to time and natural disasters, it fell down. The good thing is that it's protected inside the church. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay until the church opens, which starts at 5:00 p.m., when Mass begins. I had wanted to see the inside again, but I was satisfied with that. Ultimately, visiting Saint Blaise is one of the key points for understanding the history of Valencia. Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.</div></P>

><P><div class="text-justify">Volviendo a la Plaza de Páez, tenía algunos años que no iba por allí, por lo que me encontré con la sorpresa de que fue remodelada. Anteriormente la plaza estaba llena de árboles, caminerias de bloques y banquitos de concreto, lo que la hacía lucir pintoresca y acorde con la estética de la iglesia (ambas de la misma época). Hoy en día, su estilo es más moderno, aunque si soy sincera no me agrada mucho la idea de ver cesped artificial, mucho cemento y pocos árboles. Creo que el encanto de la placita a mermado un poco por "un estándar" de plaza que se ha visto implementado por todos lados en Valencia. Ahora, el que hayan colocado la estatua de Páez hecha por Andrés Pérez Mujica, si es un acierto. También se añadió un alto relieve de un momento donde Bolívar nombra a Páez. Parece que el artista de este último es el mismo autor de las esculturas de la Plaza Bolívar de Valencia.</div></P> 

><P><div class="text-justify">Por otra parte la iglesia luce igual de impresionante y bella. No ha cambiado demasiado por lo que es algo que se agradece. Un dato sobre ella, es que anteriormente se encontraba una estatua de San Blas en lo alto de la Iglesia, pero parece que por el tiempo y la misma naturaleza, se cayó. Lo bueno es que se encuentra resguardada en el interior de la iglesia. Lamentablemente no me pude quedar hasta la apertura de la iglesia que es a partir de las cinco de la tarde cuando comienza la misa. Deseaba volver a ver sus interiores, pero quedó satisfecha con ello. Finalmente visitar San Blas es uno de los puntos vitales para entender la historia de Valencia. Sin más que decir, muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí.</div></P>
