If there is something that characterized this January, it was all that we walked: I couldn't ask for anything more at my feet and my shoes and that is why they are now having their well-deserved rest. When you want to make the most of your travel days, you tend to push yourself a bit physically, but it's all worth it if the intention is to do something fun and get to a great place. For the pain that arises afterwards, there are always painkillers, like all the ones we take after walking more than two hours up the mountain to reach <strong>the top of Cerro Las Gemelas in the province of Córdoba</strong> 😅.

<blockquote>Si hay algo que caracterizó a este Enero fue todo lo que caminamos: a mi pies y a mis zapatillas ya no podía pedirle nada más y por eso ahora están teniendo su merecido descanso. Cuando hay ganas de aprovechar al máximo los días de viaje uno suele sobreexigirse un poco físicamente, pero todo vale la pena si la intención es hacer algo divertido y llegar a un lugar genial. Para los dolores que surgen después siempre existen los analgésicos, como todos los que tomamos después de estar caminando más de dos horas montaña arriba para llegar a la <strong>cima del Cerro Las Gemelas en la provincia de Córdoba</strong> 😅.

Every time I go on a trip he planned a detailed itinerary of everything we can do and places to go and visit, but this time it was different. I didn't stress so much preparing a big list of activities and I only knew that I wanted to do one thing: climb Cerro Uritorco. According to what I had read, this trekking is quite heavy and takes about 4 hours of ascent and 3 hours of descent, so you have to go well rested. Honestly, my physical condition is not the best, so I was planning to go with more desire than ability 😶.

No me estresé tanto en preparar una gran lista de actividades y solo sabía que quería hacer una cosa: escalar el Cerro Uritorco. However, my desire began to disappear a bit when I found out that to climb that hill you had to pay 5,000 ARS (15 USD). Why that price? Only because the land on which the hill is located (the middle of the mountains) is private and the owners charge to climb it. Not that it includes a guide or anything like that, just paying that price to get through the gate. While my dad and I decided whether or not to go there, we chose another mountain to climb, supposedly less difficult than Cerro Uritorco 🙃.

This is Cerro Las Gemelas: this hill is the second highest in this area with 1695 above sea level and is located almost next to Cerro Uritorco. At its feet is a private complex with a restaurant, swimming pool and a small craft center, where you can also go horseback riding and night walks. Unfortunately, climbing this hill was not free either but at least it was cheaper than the other one (2000 ARS, 5 USD) so we chose that one first 😃.

A sus pies posee un complejo privado con restaurante, pileta y un pequeño centro de artesanías, donde también se pueden realizar cabalgatas y paseos nocturnos. Desafortunadamente, ascender a este cerro tampoco era gratis pero al menos era más barato que el otro (2000 ARS, 5 USD) así que elegimos ese primero 😃.

The path itself from the center of Capilla del Monte to the base of the hill was quite exhausting. My dad and I walked for over an hour to get to the resort and we were exhausted before we even set foot on the mountain. Before starting the main walk we stopped for a moment to have lunch and recharge our batteries and it worked because we were going to need it 😅.

<blockquote>Ya el propio camino desde el centro de Capilla del Monte hasta la base del cerro fue bastante agotador. Mi papá y yo caminamos más de una hora hasta llegar al complejo y habíamos quedado cansados antes de siquiera pisar la montaña. Antes de empezar la caminata principal nos detuvimos un momento a almorzar y recargar energías y funcionó porque íbamos a necesitarla 😅.

At least in this place they offered us some trekking poles to take with us (it doesn't justify the price for going up, also without a guide, but at least it's something). We started our walk at exactly 2 2 PM and the entrance to the trail already looked quite steep and full of stones. Everything was properly signposted so there was no way to get lost, besides that all the time you came across people going up or down 😃.

Before going up, they explained to us that on the way we would see 8 posts in total, each one indicating the height at which we were, the distance to the entrance and what was left to reach the top. In total, this entire route consisted of 9 km uphill, at times steep but at others not so much. Already in the first minutes of walking you could get some very nice views towards the town ❤️.

For a person whose only physical activity at home is biking for 20 minutes a day, this trek treated me quite well. I was very entertained with the landscapes and with the talk with my dad, so everything was quite light. We went up at a pretty ugly hour for the sun, but luckily the heat wasn't too terrible 😃.

Para ser una persona que la única actividad física que hace cuando está en casa es andar en bicicleta 20 minutos por día, este trekking me trató bastante bien. Estaba muy entretenida con los paisajes y con la charla con mi papá, así que todo fue bastante leve. Subimos a una hora bastante fea para el sol, pero por suerte el calor no era tan terrible 😃.

One of the most important stops was the viewpoint towards Cerro Uritorco: there is only 400 meters of difference between the height between it and Las Gemelas hill, so what we were doing was an equally good and cheaper achievement. As these hills are one next to the other, from there you could see the neighboring hill perfectly: what you couldn't see so perfectly was the sign that indicated it, which was seen to have been badly mistreated, poor thing 😅.

<blockquote>Una de las paradas más importantes fue la del mirador hacia el Cerro Uritorco: solo hay 400 metros de diferencia entre la altura entre él y el cerro Las Gemelas, por lo que lo que estabmos haciendo era un logro igual de bueno y más económico. Como estos cerros están uno al lado del otro, desde allí se lo podía ver perfectamente el cerro vecino: lo que no se veía tan perfectamente era el cartel que lo señalaba, que se ve que fue bastante maltratado pobrecito 😅.

When my dad and I thought we were pretty close to the top at about 4 PM, we were only at post 7 out of 8. Although the fatigue wasn't terrible, we already wanted to finish the walk. There we also found other girls who were in the same situation: that last little stretch of 15 minutes looked quite steep, but it was the last effort so it was mandatory to do it 😅.

Cuando con mi papá creíamos que ya estabamos bastante cerca de la cima a punto de cumplirse las 4 PM, solo estabamos en la posta 7 de 8. Si bien el cansancio no era terrible, ya teníamos bastantes ganas de terminar la caminata. Allí también nos encontramos a otras chicas que estaban en la misma situación: ese pequeño último tramo de 15 minutos se veía bastante empinado, pero era el último esfuerzo así que había que hacerlo obligatoriamente 😅.

And when it seemed that our legs were going to come off, we finally reached the top and it was all excitement and hugs. Everything looked absolutely beautiful from up there: there is nothing better than a 360° view of such a beautiful place. The feeling of being surrounded by mountains and a beautiful valley is indescribable, a great reward after having walked so much ❤️.

<blockquote>Y cuando ya parecía que se nos iban a salir las piernas, finalmente llegamos a la cima y todo fue emoción y abrazos. Todo se veía absolutamente hermoso desde ahí arriba: no hay nada mejor que una vista 360° de un lugar tan lindo como ese. La sensación de estar rodeado de montañas y de un valle hermoso es indescriptible, una gran recompensa después de haber caminado tanto ❤️.

At the top of this hill there is a great mountain of stones, surely formed by all the walkers like us who managed to conquer this mountain. Of course I left my contribution in it like my dad. Having done this tour together will always be a good memory for us, and it will also be kept in this symbolic monument up there ❤️.

The views from there were completely incredible: you could see everything we had been visiting those days: the dam, the town, you could even make out the covered street. The wind is always terrible in these places due to the height and the open space, but that day the weather was ideal. After all the effort, it was worth getting my breath back there ❤️.

I'm not going to lie saying that the descent was easier than the ascent because it definitely wasn't. I'm just going to be thankful that I had my trekking pole that helped me to support myself a bit and not force my toes so much. All those fancy moves while doing the mountain climber took their toll on me afterwards, bringing me a lot of sore muscles, but that's another story. After all, memories and photos only show the best parts ❤️.


<blockquote>No voy a mentir diciendo que la bajada fue más fácil que la subida porque definitivamente no lo fue. Solo voy a agradecer que tenía mi bastón de trekking que me servía para apoyarme un poco y no forzar tanto las puntas de mis pies. Todos esos movimientos extravagantes mientras me hacía la escaladora de montañas me pasaron la factura después trayendome un montón de dolores musculares, pero eso es otra historia. Después de todo, en los recuerdos y las fotos solo se ven las mejores partes ❤️.

Every time I visit the province of Córdoba I confirm that it is one of the most beautiful places in our country and that it deserves to be visited as many times as possible. During our vacation days we had a great time: we did a lot of physical activity but we also compensated by eating in equal amounts. I really liked having shared this trek with my dad who also likes to walk and walk everywhere: <strong>I think we both had a good afternoon going there and we made a good mountain team ❤️.</strong>
