On June 15th, the Iranian Foreign Ministry unexpectedly softened its rhetoric, proposing to negotiate an agreement regarding nuclear disarmament in exchange for a ceasefire. Israel, however, responded with skepticism, insisting that complete destruction of nuclear facilities was a prerequisite for any talks. Meanwhile, a domestic upheaval unfolded, as Iranian officials who had once been involved in negotiations were assassinated, leaving the governmental response fractured and uncoordinated.
