Born in Michigan in 1973, Page grew up in a family of computer experts. His curiosity about technology and quest for knowledge led him to Stanford after earning a degree in Computer Engineering. Similarly, Brin, born in Moscow, Russia, in 1973, emigrated to the United States as a child and enrolled at Stanford. The two met during campus tours, exchanging intense debates that would lay the groundwork for their future partnership.

## The Formation of Google

In 1995, inspired by the burgeoning internet, Page began a research project initially called "Backrub," focusing on backlinks to rank web pages based on relevance. The duo experimented with the Stanford homepage and eventually developed the PageRank algorithm, which propelled the company to success.
