In the last few years being a blockchain developer and a crypto enthusiast, I have learned a few things the hard way. Especially making use of this technology for some web2-related stuff can take some more time to become easier. People who are developing games on top of blockchain face a few challenges and when they get started, initially it can be very hard but gradually they innovate and come up with some best ways. 

I think this technology will start to mature only through these routes. I still remember the old days when someone wanted to make use of blockchain to build a game on Hive. dCity was born that way. The developer was new to development and also new to this technology. But they still wanted to give it a try. Finally, the game came out to be very well, and even today the game is one of the most successful games on the Hive blockchain.

## Managing the wallets

If we are trying to bring people from the web2 world those who are not familiar with blockchain stuff can find this very hard to understand how wallets work and they mostly take some time to get used to this or they make a mistake and lose their wallet passwords. Managing the wallets and assets is something that is supposed to be handled by the users and if they don't pay attention to the security or how it is done, it can become bad. 

## Change in-game mechanics to adapt to blockchain

Some games might have very good gameplay. If we have to make it a web3 game then there will be a need to change the mechanics of the game. This is not comfortable for all the developers. There are also challenges during the development phase many developers are either stuck or they slow down with the development. This is a challenge for someone building games on blockchain. 

## Scalability issues in blockchain

We might be able to say that blockchain is pretty much new technology but there are still a lot of challenges where some blockchains are slow in processing the transactions making it hard for the developers to develop and also for the players to play games on top of this. When it comes to gaming, the response should be very fast and it should happen with very low latency but due to high demand, the transactions are either slow or it is not fast enough for a game to survive. 

## High transaction fees

If people choose a blockchain that has high transaction fees, it can be hard to build a game on top of that. It will only end up as a burden on the player. The reason is that when they try to move their asset or trade their asset, they might have to pay a lot of fees. The game developers don't even try to pick an alternative chain that is comparatively cheaper or free but they think that it is not feasible to build games at all on blockchain. 

## Market listing challenges

Game developers expect their coins to be listed in the market. Most of the games are just a sub-token of a native token or a chain. In some cases, even the main token itself struggles to get an exchange listing and if we expect the game token to get an exchange listing it can be hard. 

## Legal concerns

Even though a developer gets everything sorted, they find it hard to handle the legal concerns. Many old cryptocurrencies are facing issues today and the government is trying to take some control. This has been a common thing in the crypto world. The legalities would even differ from country to country and we might end up doing a lot of changes to go well with the legal department. All this is because we don't have a solid guideline on the usage of crypto and many governments don't recognize this as a legal tender to use.
