Humans are in general followers, that's why herd mentality persist even though everyone claims to be unique and individual. Coupled with social media, neighbour envy also guides us to follow the person who seems to be doing better, having more. How we accept this kind of behaviour affects us is important, but more importantly how we negate the impact it has on us. If you have a strategy for that, that would be a million/billion dollar idea. :D PS. Apologies if I went super off tangent here....
