Is Polkadot Really a ‘Ethereum Killer’

Well that selloff today put a halt to my morning blogging while I scrambled to make some money on the drop. Now that the market is slight more stable let’s get back to the post.

The Swiss-born “blockchain of blockchains” Polkadot (DOT) is often said to be an Ethereum killer. Ethereum (ETH) is the most highly traded cryptocurrency after Bitcoin, bit little known Polkadot has steamrolled it over the last month in terms of gains, up over 88% to Ethereum’s 50%.

DOT is trying to fix ETH’s problems thus taking its users. ETH has plenty of has disadvantages right now:

- Slow pace of development within the Ethereum blockchain
- Ridiculously high gaze fees
- coin price (retail likes lower price coins because they can buy whole coins. Note that price and value are way different)

Dot strives to create a chain that’s easily built on. Nimble and flexible is the name of the game. I think the team behind DOT is good and the issues they are trying to solve are real. It’s hard to put a price target on a coin that could dethrone ETH, but it’s definitely worth getting a little skin in the game just in case it does.

So is Polkadot their own chain?  How do you buy into it?  Do you have to swap into it from ETH?  Any good exchanges with a pair that you recommend?  I am still trying to find something to diversify a little more.
