I find it interesting how there is often a huge disparity between *"the economy"* and the economic situation of *individuals.* Officially, the talking heads can point to macro level numbers that suggest everything is going really well, and meanwhile more and more *individual people* find themselves sinking under lower incomes and mounting debts. Sure *"corporate profits"* might be higher than ever, and there are lots of *"investment"* but that all feels like a shell game that has little to do with *reality* at street level.

I feel cautiously hopeful that blockchain technologies and cryptocurrencies (provided the idea of decentralization is kept alive) will somehow help pull individual people back towards a better and more empowered place. 

Time will tell!
