# Rektember has a reputation: >**[This](https://www.cnbctv18.com/cryptocurrency/bitcoin-rektember-uptober-and-a-look-at-the-cyclical-nature-14880191.htm) crypto pattern has become more and more apparent over the last few years, especially in September and October. So much so that these two months have since been renamed "Rektember" and "Uptober" in the cryptosphere.**  [Source](https://twitter.com/rovercrc/status/1693181576132116875?s=19) For years now September or [Rektember](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-rekt) has never been a very bad month for [Bitcoin](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-bitcoin) and [Crypto](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/cryptocurrency) as well, Rektember as the name implies has not been green in the history of Bitcoin. Will history repeat itself again next month or would we be surprised by September this year and get a Green September which will break the circle of Reds? I saw a post today on Twitter saying that the recent Bitcoin dump is the beginning of the Rektember season and we should buckle up for the [crypto](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/cryptocurrency) winter ahead that September is going to leave up to its name "Rektember". Has much as I do not want the [Rektember](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-rekt) seasons to kick start or even happen this year because of the fact that we have been in a bearish market for almost 2 years now, since November 2021 after Bitcoin and many altcoin hit their current all-time highs. September 2021 was not friendly at all there were a lot of huge dumps even after El Salvador adopted Bitcoin as [legal tender](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-legal-tender) and everyone expected a huge pump in the crypto market, but the reverse was the case as [Bitcoin](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-bitcoin) dump instead. Apart from 2014 and 2015 that was a total flop and a bit of green for [Bitcoin](https://leofinance.io/@leoglossary/leoglossary-bitcoin), the rest of 8 years has been all red, I hope history does not repeat itself and let us have another green September. The same handle on Twitter also stated that we are in a pre-halving year, which typically yields 6 green months and 6 red months and according to him or her, we have already had the green months. So we are about to begin the red months, and the rest of 2023 will be red including Uptober (October) which in history had been the best month for Bitcoin.
