It's okay, people can still identify by country or at leasy by continent even if/when the country borders get a bit vague XD I don't know if it's a these days thing because people move around more or if it's an always thing that just happened but I feel like cultural ties are stronger than actual country ties (so I think I'm agreeing with you but I'm not sure XD).
