I remember trying to explain the decentralised interfaces to someone and they seemed to think that it was a bad thing because it was too confusing, but I think they might also be the type that likes "official" things and anything that isn't the one true official source is very definitely some third rate rip off no exceptions.

Perhaps it is a perspective issue. I am guessing that these people don't spend all of their time on one website, even though they are all on the same internet. Hive is a bit the same as the internet in terms of the platform, two interfaces can both exist on it, but have no interaction with each other.
