Even though you only vaguely touched on the border of a few ideas of existentialism I still feel like you might be interested in reading some Ernest Hemingway novels if you haven't already XD

Sucks that insurance wouldn't cover it (hope they're good for anything else otherwise may as well just drop them as a waste of money) but good that the heating company did.

I have only read "The old man and the sea" a long time ago - I liked it, but I think I wasn't ready to dive into more of the meaning behind it at the time. 

The insurance company should cover, even if not our fault - and then fight the heating company. What the fuck is it for otherwise?

I feel like this is why private insurance was pretty much forced over here, there were too many people that were opting out (either self-insuring by trying to make sure they had a massive savings buffer or just assuming/hoping it would always happen to other people and never ever to them) which would cause that entire scheme to collapse in on itself.
