The meters are read here too, though most (ours) is also read remotely now. The contract is for the price of the electricity and for the transport. If you imagine that some people have old contracts still in play paying 4 cents, whilst some others have been paying up to 60c a kw. I wish I had our old contract and it was "expensive"...
