In a fateful moment, they named their new venture after a casual phone call ended with "Zehr gut," meaning "very good" in Yiddish. Thus, Zayre was born in 1956, opening its first store in Hyannis, Massachusetts. With an innovative self-service model and a focus on selling a wide array of products, Zayre quickly gained traction.

## Rapid Expansion and Acquisitions
