What you say is true. However, if all those projects were growing, in terms of users, all of hive would be growing. The challenge is, from the user perspective, they are just dividing up what is already here. Without newer people, we are stuck spinning our wheels. I think there is a massive level of friction for user onboarding. We have been steadily climbing in Alexa Rankings despite user growth being long. We have to assume that people became interested enough in the platform; but not enough to warrant a signup and having a blockchain account.
