Thank you for reading -- yes, Gilbert has a hard journey to go on. It is implied in the stories featuring him that he struggles with comparison to his awesome father, and makes a lot of missteps because of that, BUT, in doing the right thing, he finds himself where he wanted to be anyway ... a father, like his father, beginning his journey to greatness at the same point his own father did.
