Hey you slap me here with a word that I am unfamiliar with. "Heuristics" "It's from the Greek; "I find, discover"; A function that ranks alternatives in search algorithms at each branching step, based on available information, to decide which branch to follow" Confusing? Hear this one; "Heuristics is a cognitive mechanism that helps us find correct but imperfect answers to complex questions" Still no idea? Way above my league, but the only thing here that interests me is the moral coding. No doubt that this world needs a fix and if AI can do it to the benefit of all, especially the poor, then I am all for it.

"rule of thumb" is a pretty good synonym :) I guess that we are all morally coded in one way or another, which gives us our sense of right and wrong. The coding comes through many forms to create our beliefs, warped they may be. AI has the chance to save many or destroy us all :)

The scary part for our children is the "destroy us all" Me and myself are not too worried about it, as I have led a long life filled with grace and troubles. Luckily I have three names and each name is it's own character, so we are a crowd that's not too worried. How's that for warped Lol It's the children and my grandchildren that I care about.

I see it as the responsibility of a parent to think about the future "happiness" (can mean different things) of our children. That means that at the very least, we have to think about their happiness if they themselves are parents one day. If for example we pollute the environment to the point children get ill, it means that we will see our grandchildren suffer, and that in turn will of course be a suffering for our own children. We have to think even longer though, as us seeing our children suffer due to our grandchildren suffering, we will suffer too. This means that we need to extend our view as our children will be suffering grandparents one day also.... In my view, the best bet is to try and continually improve the world, not degrade it.
