Great title Johann with the C as reference to your cruiser. I was reading the link about the Duke’s chair. It is really ancient and must have been hard to sit on for long.

The city has a lovely location with the mountains in the background. The countryside is beautiful , green and sprinkled with flowers. The cow and the calf photo is neat.

I can see why Hochosterwitz castle is a tourist attraction. It looks like a fairyland and I expected to see Peter Pan fly out of it.

My sister was on a river cruise a couple years ago and they had a day trip into Austria. She thought it was a beautiful place. If I was there I would want to see the castle and maybe make a pilgrimage to the historic church nestled on top of the mountain. 😊

I tell you something - I have learned about that chair when I was at school, but forgot it until I read the Wikipedia page today 😉

Klagenfurt is a nice city, located directly at the lake Wörthersee and it is a really nice place to live. You can walk the footpath up to the castle or use a new built elevator, but walking is more interesting. I think there are 14 gates till you are on top at the castle.
Your sister must have been on the Danube. From Lower Austria, where the Danube flows through, it would have been an about 3 hours drive to carinthia, but there are many old and also very beautiful castle in Lower Austria too ;)
We have quite a few churches located on mountains like this one and you could hike the Vierbergelauf (four mountains run), which is a pilgrimage over the Magdalensberg and 3 other mountains in that area, but it is very long I have heard.

Yes it was the Danube my sister and her husband were on in the river cruise. I'll have to ask her more about her visit to Austria.

14 gates and 4 mountains! Phew, does seem a long hike 😳 But I’m sure many people have done it. I think I’d take the route to the castle if I had my druthers.😊

you are right, many people hike this pilgrimage each year, but that's nothing I would like to do.

It's rainy today and tomorrow will be worse they say, but I have been for a nice macro walk this morning, so I have enough to do at home 🙂
