The other day, my wife and I had to go to the "big city." I was sitting with a morning coffee waiting as she got ready and I had a few minutes. Phone-scrolling, I saw this web app: https://pocket-vibe.koyeb.app/ and figured, "I'll try that."
With no idea what app to make, I pondered, looking at my phone. One thing that I like is the auto-generated user avatars that a lot of front ends and clients use in case the user hasn't uploaded their own image or if the network is slow. So, I figured I'd make that - I prompted pocket-vibe to make that app to generate an 8bit avatar based on a username type of input. Within five minutes, I had a working version. I did a handful of versions to get it to where I liked it, but it was really, really easy.
It's rather amazing to me that we're now in a time where we can "code" out a working app in literally less than five minutes. This little app that I came up with is really no different than a QR code generator, except that it's colorful, more fun, and doesn't do any QR code scanning, I think.
What does your username look like? Enter it at this 8bit avatar app to find out: https://pocket-vibe.koyeb.app/site/pv_b5393c85
