The process of simplifyig itself is a bit of complicating. The issue is.... how to stand above and when looking down to a complex issue, picture, idea to make it transform as a whole in a simpler one....

The method here is designed to not lose any details when removing complexity - when there are literally millions of parameters and details involved it is typically too big a task to visualise the whole thing in one go without losing some details.. So by formalising a protocol that results in no loss of information, we can always guarantee that we can fully understand any complex system - even in cases where it is impossible to further simplify something that simply is complicated ;)

Not to play the devil's advocate but what about the 'whole is greater than the sum of the parts'. I relate this to your hypothesis by thinking that every time you add another detail (making the solution a little more complex), this detail alters the other details. Therefore, when you eliminate a detail wouldn't that alter the initial premise? Does this make sense or am I over complicating the issue.

hehe - I am not advocating for denying any of the details. I am specifically noting how to go about not losing any of the details. The overall whole of the 'thing' being examined can be defined too, but not without first defining it's constituent parts.
