"Nobody has a monopoly on great ideas" - A great thought said by Kevin O'Leary. Implementing the quote, the world is pacing towards technology. From the simple lever machine to a wireless setup, small inventions of every day are making the change. In such a world, management of data has always remained a central concern. Every technology emerged, presents a new set of data that is to be processed, stored and distributed as well. Same is the case with the modern IOT technology. IOT connects the technologies of the world – the sensors, data processors as well the central station or computers. Databroker DAO is a breakthrough for the IoT sensor data in terms of its utilization and monetization.
## What is the project about?
The adjective smart is prefixed now to almost all the gadgets surrounding us. These smart gadgets work their real way out through the collection of data through sensors. IoT sensors enable the communication of the sensors in remote places. Though smart, most of the data collected from these are not used up to its full efficiency or we can say, is ignored. The data are locked up in organizational silos.
Databroker Dao is a decentralized, blockchain based online platform for IoT sensor data enabling direct communication between sensor owners and data purchasers. It features data monetization so that the sunk costs turn up to good revenues and the system efficiency increase further.
## How databroker DAO works?
The core mission of the project is to allow give and take of the IoT sensor data by monetizing the process. As said, it can be considered as 'Amazon' or 'E-bay' for IoT sensor data.
The Stats mention that the annual turnover of the IoT sensors passed over USD 600 billion dollars and is anticipated to grow to trillions in the coming years. Despite this, the data gathered from these devices is still not utilized at its full due to the locking up of the data in silos. Databroker provides a platform where the data owners and data purchasers will carry out the actual sales of the required data. This way not only is the data used more efficiently, but also the initial cost of the sensors for its installation and software packages can be greatly recovered.
As for instance, a farmer requiring continuous information on the weather conditions of a particular region can purchase this required data from databroker DAO and increase the efficiency of his working methodologies instead of investing behind the installation of the temperature and humidity sensors for the same.
As another example, the data about the traffic conditions of roadways during the peak hours of the day can be utilized to guide the drivers for the best possible route. This kind of data from the sensors can be made available on the databroker DAO can be purchased by the related authorities for efficient traffic management.
## Who are the stakeholders of the Databroker DAO?
The main stakeholders for the project include the following categories of people:
### Sensor owners
These people are the owners of IoT sensors that they have installed according to their system requirements. They make the sensor collected data available on the Databroker Dao platform for sale to the buyers.
### Data buyers
These are the purchasers of the available data from Databroker Dao. They purchase it according to their own requirements. As from the above instance, the farmer will be the purchaser of the data related to weather conditions of a particular region.
The purchasers can utilize the data available on the platform in raw form or can demand value added transformed or enriched data as per the requirements.
### Data processors
As mentioned, the demand can be for a processed data or enriched data. This group of people buys data from Databroker solely with the intention of transforming it as per the customer's validations. They gather the data from a couple of different sources and perform the required calculations and condition the data as per the specific request and then sell them to its purchasers.
### Gateway operators
The telecommunication operators handle the flow of a large amount of data in a global wireless network in each country. The network can be GSM-based, a Lora network or any other. Thus, they act as a gateway between the data providers and data users. Same will be the key role of the gateway operators in Databroker DAO platform. They provide a gateway to let the sensor owners sell their data on the platform.
## People behind the project:
The core team of the project includes the following people:
1) Matthew Van Niekerk, Co-founder and CEO
2) Roderik Van Der Veer, Co-founder and CTO
3) Frank Van Geertruyden, Director
4) Els Mayvaert, project manager
5) Cassandre Vandeputte, solution analyst
6) Tom De Block, blockchain architect
7) Silke Van Den Broeck, Blockchain developer
8) Veronica Murguia, Investment Advisor
9) Magomet Tsanajev, Content creator
## Conclusion:
Databroker Dao can be considered as one of the most innovative and full of worth project making the count of sensors installation less and enabling the data analysis and utilization with less circuitry and ease. The platform already available online will prove to be the most efficient technology in the coming days.
