If you are eating, you cannot put your entire fingers in your mouth at once and still enjoy the meal, neither can you put the entire food in your mouth at a go, but bit by bit. In the same way in life, you do not have to do everything at once to make success, you have to understand the power of progress and taking things one at a time. There are times that you may be overwhelmed by the size of the responsibility that you want to take, but the truth is that you do not have to take it all at once. Start somewhere, even if it means starting small, then keep going. You may not arrive at your destination at once, but each step matters, and will get you closer to it.

No matter how big or beautiful your dream may look, the success that you require will not happen overnight. But it will come over time, by putting in constant efforts and making steady progress. Just to let you know; the first step may not even look like it, and it may not even be that impressive at the start, but as time goes on, it will definitely lead to powerful result - you just have to keep at it. Everything of value that you want to achieve will follow certain processes and may not get achieved overnight. The power of progress, when employed correctly, will help you to understand that it is the continuous repeated actions you take that will lead you to the results you seek.

It is true that your dreams and aspirations may want to intimidate you at some points because of their size. However, you should not be too concerned about how far you can go or about how long it will take you to achieve it, rather focus on what you can do today. For example; if you want to earn a university degree, it is obviously clear that you will need a couple of years to achieve it. But you should not keep thinking about the number of years you have to go and being discouraged by it. Just start the school, go each semester at a time, and before you know it, you will be in final year and you will earn your degree.

Why a lot of people have not achieved their dreams is simply because they have not started - they have not made a single move. They focus so much on how long it will take them to achieve it and the destination itself, without starting the journey. It is the journey and the processes that will take you to the destination. No one can teleport from where they are to where they want to go at the blink of an eye. They have to initiate the journey by taking the first step, then they will keep going till they are at their destination. In the same way in life, it is the progress that you keep making that will take you to achieving your dream.

It is worthy to note that even success itself should not be viewed as a destination or a one-time event, rather it demands continuous progress and becoming better than you were in the past. One of the things you need to understand is that progress is not about taking a giant leap once-and-for-all, rather it is about taking constant and continuous right steps in the right direction. These tiny steps are not negligible because they build momentum and get you prepared for much bigger steps. They are like small droplets of water that enter the bucket little by little and after a while, it will become full.

You do not have to wait for the perfect time or the perfect plan before you take any step, otherwise you may not take any step and progress will not be made. Life may not even guarantee you a perfect time because it is full of uncertainties, busyness, and distraction. So you have to take the step nonetheless. The primary and most important key to making progress is to start now, even if it means starting small. What you call a small start today may be what will open the door to some unimaginable successes tomorrow.
