I don't know what the reasons behind the break up where but if you loved a person then those feelings don't go away immediately, they take time and you just have to be a little patient.</p><p>I don't know why the two of you broke up but maybe that can explain why you can't seem to forget about your ex. If you guys broke up because of something that was your fault then it's quite possible that it's your guilt that's making you unable to forget the person.</p><p>If it wasn't your fault, and you guys broke up for a good reason then maybe you either need to re-evaluate your decision or remember why it was that you guys broke up and remind yourself about why it obviously won't work.</p><p>When it's not your fault that you guys had to break up and it's the fault of your partner but you still can't get over them then it could be that you've been damaged mentally and emotionally and when this happens, your body tries to seek out the familiar feeling or person that actually hurt you because your mind is probably confused and unsure of whether or not breaking up was a good idea.</p><p>It's actually a very common behaviour and all you have to do is keep reminding yourself of why it was that you guys broke up. As long as you thought about it long and hard before you broke up with the person then you'll always find a good reason not to go back.</p><p>Another thing that I noticed makes people unable to leave their exes is the fact that they can't let go of the idea of what they could have been with their exes. Alot of people start dreaming of getting married and spending their whole lives with their partners so when they break up, they have to come to terms with the fact that all that isn't going to happen. This can make it extremely difficult to let go of your ex and in my experience, it's not your ex that you miss, it's the idea of them with you that you miss having.</p><p>Sometimes you may not even have positive feelings towards your ex, what may make you continue to think about them may be the pain that they caused you, the pain that you felt when then cheated on you or maybe the pain you felt when they left you. The resentment and hatred you may feel towards them could be another reason why you can't forget about them but with a little counseling you should be able to let all of that negative energy go. Try going out more and mingling with other people, you'll be fine I'm no time.</p><p>The worst reason for this would be when you messed up and you know your ex treated you well, probably better than anyone ever treated you. At this point it's your guilt and sense of loss that's keeping you from moving on. It's never easy to let go of a good thing especially when it's your fault that you lost it, but if there's no hope whatsoever in getting back to each other then all you can do is move on.
