<p>In biblical terms, God created all the animals, hence chickens existed before the egg</p>
<p>In scientific evolutionary theory, all life evolved from single celled amoeba's and evolved to its present state. However in order to lay an egg that became the chicken, there must have been an existing ancestor in non egg form and tracing back far enough you will arrive back at the single celled amoeba which is not an egg</p>
