There are claims that snakes used to have limbs. How true is that?

<p>It has been shown that the gene still exists in snakes that allowed them at one time grow legs and limbs.</p>
<p>Over time this stopped happening due to a mutation, but in very rare cases even today there are still snakes found that have grown legs.</p>
