There is a pretty fine line between scientific discovery and the hubris of man. I think the fact that some of the most innovative thinkers of our time have an issue with AI should be warning enough for us. You don't think that Hawking could see scenarios and pitfalls that the general public hasn't even begun to fathom? Despite all the benefits that AI has to potential to bring to us, it only takes one mistake or misstep to start a chain reaction that will eventually lead to chaos. I am pretty pro technology and innovation, so it really pains me to have these feelings about AI.
