The wrestling that we see in high school/college/olympics is quite assuredly real. A lot of people see it as guys (or girls) rolling around and hugging each other, but it is truly a sport of endurance and strength.
\n
I am very impressed by the athletes that choose to participate in the sport. I takes so much skill and talent. It might be one of the best examples of overcoming odds and being victorious.
\n
The wrestling that we see on TV on the other hand is most definitely scripted. Now, just because it is scripted doesn't mean that the \"actors\" are not tremendous athletes.
\n
I was watching a show a while ago where they were talking about professional wrestlers and the training camp that they have to go through to be able to be in the WWE or WCW or whatever.
\n
There were people who had been professional football players that couldn't pass the physical requirements of being a pro wrestler. It is very intense and very physically demanding.
\n
The matches and story lines are exactly that... Stories for the benefit of the crowd so that you can love certain wrestlers and hate other ones. It's similar to the reason that people watch soap operas, they just love the story. It is the kind of mindless entertainment that people love.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pkxk6p2yq","appParentAuthor":"adenijiadeshina","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
