So many people and only concern about what they can get are not what they can give.

Leadership is not about what you can take but what you can give. A leader is sacrificial. You'll find them giving out more than they receive. They give their time, they give their resources, they give their effort towards ensuring that another person, the group of individuals they are leading are bettered.

This doesn't come to play in the minds of the leaders who are in these countries. They see every leadership opportunity as an avenue to amass wealth for themselves, their families and generations unborn. It is for this reason that corruption has been on the increase. The funny thing is that most of these people prior to gaining leadership positions were nothing to write home about but before they leave power, they will ensure that they empty the coffers of the government treasury and of their state, their local government, their constituencies.

Today, virtually everyone thinks that the money in the government is supposed to be shared and this view of the masses is the wrong. That's why you see people fighting for political offices and going as far as killing people, going as far as making human sacrifices just to ensure that they get there. If they can go this length just to gain a government position, it is very clear that they are going there not for the purpose of the citizenry, not for the purpose of those who they should protect, those who they should represent but for their own selfish interest.

Also, and the law-enforcing tier of government has not helped matters. These people instead of fighting and protecting the rights of the citizens, they connive with the politicians to commit their nefarious activities.

If the judiciary and the legislature can checkmate the excesses of politicians, then most of the issues we are having in these countries would be solved.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pkfy55tdx","appParentAuthor":"alaisguineasis","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
