`json_metadata`	"{"app":"musing/1.1","appTags":["hypothesis"],"appCategory":"hypothesis","appTitle":"Do you think conjuring up speculative situations are an exercise in futility?","appBody":"<p>In my opinion, it is just the opposite.  Conjuring up speculative situations, especially those that deal with a goal you may have is among the smartest things one can do.  Another term for it would be planning.   Even if the situations are more on the creative side it is very helpful.  In either case it keeps your mind nimble.</p>\n<p>Very often I find myself thinking about what number at what percentage interest each your would give my family and I total financial security.  I will start to think about how to get there through compound interest.  How long it will take at a particular rate.  How many years I could cut off my working life if I were able to earn an extra amount each year to add to savings.  </p>\n<p>On the creative side, people have made millions selling books based on just what you mention.  These authors will, in some cases invent completely outlandish situations (Tolkien) and turn them into books that millions of people enjoy.</p>\n<p>If you own a business it can be the difference between staying solvent and not.  Many of the great CEO's in the business world say that part of their success is their ability to plan for all types of situations, even those that seem like they would never come up.  When they do, these people are prepared.</p>\n<p>Keep doing it.  Keep your mind quick and be ready for anything and everything.</p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"p37qlkwsq","appParentAuthor":"chrelye1989","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
