It has nothing to do with the end of the world.</p>\n<p>History repeats itself yet we still build and live along the fault lines. take The San Andreas Fault in California. Everyone knows about it but still live there. The fault stretches 1200 km so it affects the entire region.</p>\n<p>With this scenario there are two plates moving namely the Pacific plate and the North American plate. The Pacific plate is moving North westerly at 8 cm a year and the North American is moving South at 2 cm per year.</p>\n<p>This fault will trigger an earthquake again as it has in the past. They occured in the following years.</p>\n<p>1857</p>\n<p>1906</p>\n<p>1957</p>\n<p>1989</p>\n<p>2004</p>\n<p>The biggest one was in 1906 with a magnitude of 7.8. In 1989 there was one with a magnitude of 6.9. no one knows when the next one is due but it has been 14 years since the last one so it was a 15 year gap so it could happen again shortly.</p>\n<p>This is not the end of the world as it is just the earths plates moving. This fault has been around for over 30 million years and we are all still here.
