Granted, I use a lot of spices in my cooking, but when it comes to versatility, flavor, and availability, nothing beats a dash of good old pepper.</p>\n<p>Called as the \"King of Spices\", the pepper is also known to have a lot of benefits from helping manage diabetes and hypertension, to being a good source of antioxidants. Personally, the pepper is a kitchen staple. It goes well with a lot of dishes and can be used to season everything from meats and fish, to even vegetables. But, the best part is that unlike other spices, it's doesn't have an overpowering flavor, which is important because not a lot of people are fond of strong and pungent spices. </p>\n<p>Another reason why I consider it a favorite spice is the fact that is readily available everywhere. From the basic black and white ground peppers, to whole peppercorns, and even the colored ones, they're not difficult to find. I'm pretty sure you can find them in any grocery, anywhere. And of course, pepper also pairs very well with salt. I mean, just think about how many recipes exist that don't feature salt and pepper. I'm sure it's hard to imagine.
