json_metadata"{"app":"Musing","appTags":["Question",""],"appCategory":"Question","appTitle":"What age can a child start learning how to cook?","appBody":"<p>I started teaching my oldest child to cook when she was 4 years old she is now 11 and can cook amazing food.</p>\n<p>I started her off with baking first, some cakes some scones and other easy things like that, she loves to lick the bowl clean when we make chocolate cake.</p>\n<p>It went from there really she then started to help in the kitchen with peeling potatoes and carrots then I showed her how to cook a chicken, she got really into it and loves to make things in the kitchen.</p>\n<p>My other daughter who has just turned 5 is starting to learn, I now go in the kitchen with both of them and we make tea together, it is so cool to see their faces when they have made something from scratch to eat and see the out come, I think they enjoy it better too.</p>\n<p>I didn't get taught to cook until I went to college, I always wanted to be a chef and for 3 years I trained and got what I wanted,&nbsp;</p>\n<p>The problem when I was growing up was my mum was at home and had already cooked for everybody before we even got in from school and on weekends we would go out for day trips and have sandwiches.</p>\n<p>I never got to learn anything because of this, but I knew that I loved food and I wanted to make everything. I studied catering and been a patient person I have got the skills to pass on to my kids and this is what I have done.&nbsp;</p>\n<p>I think as long as the child can understand what they are doing then any age is fine, they have just got to know that when the oven is hot IT IS HOT, and that knives are sharp. we don't want know accidents now do we. :D</p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"p3jlpd79lx","appParentAuthor":"davsol","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
