I am the oldest of four kids. When I tell people this, they often say “that makes sense.” As a kid, I was a spelling bee champion. I used to practice by reading the dictionary, for hours and hours every day. The best I did was second place in my city bee (beating out about 48 kids) in 5th grade. “Syzygy” was my downfall. I walk everywhere and am somewhat of an advocate for pedestrian rights. Pedestrians get trampled on, literally and figuratively, and it makes me mad. I bought a house in 2007 for all the wrong reasons, and was underwater on my mortgage for many years. I am no longer underwater, and am glad I bought it because I wouldn’t be able to afford to live in Seattle otherwise. I grew up in Seattle, but my parents were Canadian immigrants. My one sister and I were the only American citizens in our family for almost 30 years. Now everyone is an American except for one.
