When you get out of the habit and try it again, it's sickening how crude this manipulation is, e.g. dramatic music or cartoonishly evil characters.</p>\n<p>If I had to watch a series, I'd prefer to watch science-fiction rather than history-based fantasy. SF is more creative in terms of world-building.</p>\n<p>It's not that I read books instead. Social media and video games offer better entertainment.</p>\n<p>Of course, I can't ignore the cultural influence of GoT. I need to understand where HODOR memes come from.</p>\n<p>Once I wrote a concept for a Game-of-Thrones-like novel about a small continent or big island's history.
