json_metadata"{"app":"Musing","appTags":["rich"],"appCategory":"rich","appTitle":"What are some good habits of very rich people?","appBody":"
Some answers highlight rather superficial aspects of rich people, such as driving your car or reading a lot.
\n

\n

\n

\n
Is reading a superficial aspect of very rich people?
\n

\n
It can be said that it is. I have had the good fortune to meet very rich people who do not even have primary school and who are not particularly good readers. I'm not talking about famous entrepreneurs, but people who over the years have managed to get hold of an investment portfolio that yields millions of dollars in passive income. A formula that is basically the formula of the game Monopoly.
\n

\n
But we have people like Warren Buffet, famous for saying he reads newspaper and spends most of his day doing it. But besides him, who else of the very rich people has these habits?
\n

\n
Mark Zuckerberg in 2015 imposed the public challenge of reading, because he did not do too much.
\n

\n

\n

\n
The reading itself can be a waste of time if you do not know how to read intelligently. It is also a subjective idea, let's see ... When I say that I read a book, does it mean that I read it from cover to cover or that I extracted its main ideas?
\n

\n
The poor have bad habits, the rich, eccentricities
\n

\n
To say that one drives his own car, or that he washes his own car, or that he makes the super, or that he does not invest in this or that company, or that he always wears the same outfit as the Simpsons character, are nothing but eccentricities, another superficial topic more useful to generate press than to emulate.
\n

\n
It is normal for the rich to have eccentricities, because they are tastes and preferences of people with a lot of money, who do not take away or put anything, they simply reflect their character. Some adapt them to be attractive to the press, in the end they are part of the image of their business.
\n

\n
Other people are more cheeky. In an experiment conducted by Neil Patel, he demonstrated how having super luxury cars and wearing expensive clothes, watches and shoes helped him close more six-dollar US dollar sales. This experiment confirms something that we have all heard, the image counts.
\n

\n

\n

\n
So what are the good habits?
\n

\n
Of the rich people I know, I can say with certainty five habits that are necessary.
\n

\n
I. HAVE EDUCATION
\n

\n
It can be with books, it can be with mentors, it can be with work experience, it can be listening to podcasts ... Some even with school.
\n

\n
Education is nothing more than knowing what you do and why you do it.
\n

\n
Some rich people were lucky enough to have, like Robert Kiyosaki, \"a rich father\" who taught them the good habits of money. Ideas like the \"Richest Man in Babylon\" that says \"you have to pay yourself,\" because some learned this lesson when they heard their mentor tell them, \"before spending, save millet.\" Others heard it with ideas such as \"give your own tithe and then the one that corresponds to others.\"
\n

\n

\n

\n
Very rich people know very well that ignorance is more expensive, and that is why they are not elbowed by investing time and money in their own education.
\n

\n
II. HAVE NEED
\n

\n
Necessity is a tremendous motivator.
\n

\n
Elon Musk made this notion famous when he declared that he learned to live a few decades ago with a dollar a day.
\n

\n
If you are a person who is afraid of losing what you have, this same fear is a tremendous burden that prevents you from achieving your own success. Experiments like Elon's taught him that the worst possible scenario, to go bankrupt, can be handled with some ease. In other words, he lost his fear.
\n

\n
But other successful entrepreneurs also lived their own versions of need. In Mexico, the businessman from Tarahumara, Arnoldo de la Rocha, talked about how he had to have many \"survival\" jobs when he arrived alone in Mexico City, and then when he started selling chickens on the street \"with the family recipe \" This resulted in his successful chain, El Pollo Feliz.
\n

\n

\n

\n
III. WORK HARD AND INTELLIGENTLY
\n

\n
It's something like ying-yang. For someone very rich, it is not viable to just work hard, or just be smart. It requires the perfect combination.
\n

\n
They are people of their word, honest and always think about how to do their work more efficiently. They work their business and in their business.
\n

\n
They are people who know what their priorities are and who organize around them.
\n

\n
They are disciplined and determined people. True professionals and experts in their own fields.
\n

\n
In modern times these people come to call \"hackers\" of life because they manage ways to be more productive while avoiding what they do not like.
\n

\n
Some may say that they \"drive their own car\" trying to denote humility, but others may say \"they get a free driver\", denoting creativity. Such is the case of Neil Patel (again), who bought a car, but did not want to keep it, so he gave it to another person making a deal. He said, \"You can make whatever use you want of the car, but you will pay for all the maintenance, insurance and gasoline, and you will take me where I ask.\"
\n

\n

\n

\n
IIII. ARE CREATIVE
\n

\n
One of the big problems that prevent many from generating wealth is that they \"think inside the box\". When asked how to make millions, it only occurs to them to be the best doctor or the best lawyer.
\n

\n
For these people to think about accumulating a vast wealth is to think about being corrupt or something like that.
\n

\n
Assuming is also a problem with creativity. For example, perhaps it made a noise to see that I numbered this point with IIII. But what would happen if I told you that my numbering is not Roman but a reflection of my fingers? IIII means that I am raising four fingers.
\n

\n
Creativity is what leads us to innovate, leads us to sell effectively, leads us to create more efficient distribution chains, leads us to create safer investment strategies, and so on.
\n

\n
Many problems can be solved when we remove these limits that we impose on ourselves.
\n

\n
A classic example is the following exercise:
\n

\n

\n
The nine points: Join the nine points using four straight lines or less, without raising the pen
\n

\n
Another classic example is the solution of two cents of dollars of the Russians before the American mythical innovation of making a pen that works in space, which required an \"investment\" of several thousand dollars. Which was?
\n

\n
Edward de Bono introduces us to lateral thinking and the error of \"thinking differently\" that does not lead us to be creative.
\n

\n
IIIII. DO NOT LOAD WITH THE CROSS OF FAILURE
\n

\n

\n

\n
The traditional school is the one that teaches us to carry this cross.
\n

\n
If you think about it, you will realize that the traditional school is none other than a contest to see who makes the least mistakes in exams and homework.
\n

\n
When you make too many mistakes, then you fail and you must repeat the subject or the whole cycle.
\n

\n
And somehow, we become averse to making mistakes. Worse yet, getting ahead of mistakes, we become averse to taking risks. Ironically, it leads us to be dishonest too. Several studies have shown that people with high levels of education as masters are more crafty and prone to bend the rules. It's natural, thinking about how expensive it has been to make mistakes for them.
\n

\n
This heavy cross takes us in turn to educate ourselves more, not to feel or avoid the need, because the fear of loss becomes very big, so first you want to \"make sure\" before taking the leap (which never happens).
\n

\n
They work hard but not intelligently, because they do not want to do different things, but to go to the safety that others have already done.
\n

\n
It also limits creativity, as Edward de Bono says in the video above, who talks about the problem of saying that \"everything that does not succeed is an error, it is not.\" And the problem is, again, that we do not like to make mistakes.
\n

\n
This cross of failure only exists in our minds and very rich people have known how to \"configure\" their heads so as not to consider mistakes like those school errors or failures like those school failures.
\n

\n
Therefore, these very rich people, when they lose everything, can return to the top even faster than last time. They only heal their wounds, swallow their pride and create a new plan.
\n

\n
Many opportunities come from outside, but also others we give them ourselves
\n

\n
Just as it makes sense to move to richer cities if you want to be rich, you must create opportunities.
\n

\n
For example with education. Robert Kiyosaki in his classic book said he could walk down a street and recognize many good investment opportunities while others are invisible.
\n

\n

\n

\n
The same happens in each field. If you are a lawyer, the better you know the laws, you also give yourself more options to close the case favorably. If you are an entrepreneur and are looking for easier and friendlier ways of doing things, you will run into ideas that others have chosen to ignore or discredit, because they have not known how to swallow their ego, and these business strategies can create super companies. I'm sure at least one example will occur to you.
\n

\n
So to begin to change your mindset, begin to see each problem as an opportunity, learn to be patient to find a solution and learn to be diligent in your effort to create something valuable.
\n

\n

\n

\n

\n
The \"rock stars\" of the markets are usually visionary people who are quick to execute their plan, but also people who work diligently before a desirable goal come to see a good portion of success. Warren Buffet himself is an example, because after his 60 years of age he has accumulated more wealth than in all his previous combined productive years, among other things, thanks to mastering the notion of compound interest (results of his education, hard work and smart). Another example is Amancio Ortega, who in the eighties designed an intelligent and creative garment trade plan that until recently put him among the richest on the planet.
\n

\n
Some other good habits are:
\n

\n
They know very well what their north is (their objectives and what moves them)
\n
They are ambitious
\n
Think big
\n
Think of systems of work
\n
They choose to be responsible
\n
Accept and correct their mistakes
\n
Negotiate
\n
They travel
\n
They do not settle for what life gives them
\n
They are positive
\n
Do at least some exercise
\n
They are looking for people with whom to discuss and execute ideas
\n
They take care of your image
\n
They are disciplined and / or determined
\n
They lead \"clean\" lives (free from bad habits)
\n
They are knowledgeable
\n
They surround themselves with people who bring something good into their lives
\n
They are tirelessly curious
\n
Instead of thinking of \"no\", they think of \"how\"
\n
They frequently leave their comfort zones
\n
They live different experiences often
\n
They plan their days
\n
Take care of your mental health
\n
They develop good relationships of couple and family
\n
They are communicative
\n
As they are workers, they enjoy the mental humility that this habit provides - so they accept progress and do not cling to mistakes, changes and leave things aside to detect opportunities
\n
They are legit (honorable)
\n
They are not idealists, but they have ideals that they encourage (such as respect, the use of power and their workload)
\n

\n

","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pks559hdx","appParentAuthor":"erika1994","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
