Marriages break apart for different reasons and whether or not it's the fault of the husband or the wife doesn't actually mean that for every single broken marriage it the fault of only one of them.</p><p>Marriages fail because of things like infidelity, which could be on the part of the man or the woman, lack of communication which could either be caused by the man or the woman or both, physical/mental abuse which could be caused by either the man or the woman, there's no reason that's limited to only one spouse.</p><p>Granted there are reasons which may be more common amongst husbands or wives, but since your question is all encompassing and not focused on a particular reason then neither the husband nor the wife can be said to be the reason for a broken marriage.</p><p>I'll say this though, in most cases in Nigeria that I've come across, women are often blames for failed marriages. Apparently if a man cheats or does something wrong the wife is supposed to be submissive and forgive him so when she doesn't file for a divorce and leaves the man, people say she should have endured. </p><p>It's sad because if a woman is the one that cheated on a man then she will still be blamed for what happened, it's just sad but such is the world we live in.
