So here are some reasons why people encounter writers block

1. Lack of motivation: There's no doubt that what makes alot of people write on steemit is the motivation we get from knowing that our posts are going to get curated and we'll get rewarded, so now that the price of steem and SBD is low, at least as compared to what it was early this year the motivation might not be there.

SOLUTION: The best way to overcome this would simply be to self motivate yourself. Try and remember all the reasons why you started writing in the first place and you'll get more than enough motivation to keep at it.

2. Fatigue: I've personally experienced this and sometimes I experience it when I'm answering questions on musing but I try to push through it most times. If you're tired then it can grossly affect your creativity and thus make you experience writers block. I think this is the most common cause of writers block for me.

SOLUTION: It's obvious, take a break and rest. There's a saying in Nigeria and it goes \"Body no be firewood\" what it implies is that the human body isn't meant to be used till it's completely used up like how firewood is used up till it's turned to ash. Rest is needed for creativity to flourish.

3. Emotional Deficit: Well alot of people write about things that draw out emotions from them, a lover, a place or even a pet. When none of these things are available and there's no emotional drive to actually inspire you into writing about something then writers block will be just around the corner.

SOLUTION: You have two options, either you go and find another source of inspiration or something or someone that can provoke those emotions that lay inside you, or you can do some intellectual writing, that is to say write something that doesn't require any emotional motivation.

4. Analysis Paralysis: Well here's another thing that I'm guilty of doing. I could spend less than 30 minutes writing a 1000 word story but end up spending the whole day changing different details and altering the ending so many times that I even forget what it was that I was writing about. Doing this often drains me and I end up without being able to turn anything out at all.

SOLUTION: Make a decision!!! Decide on what you want and stick with it. Even If you want to edit it over and over again, just stick with the first idea that enters your mind.

5. Anxiety/Stress: Anxiety is another chief creativity and it's something that you have to learn to deal with before you can overcome writers block, if not it'll always come back once you decide to write something under pressure. I remember a couple of months ago, I was in a community where we paid a monthly fee for upvotes and if you didn't post every day, you wouldn't be able to make back all the money that you paid for the monthly curation. Moreover, if your post wasn't submitted for curation by 10pm GMT+1 you'd miss out on the upvotes for that day. I always struggled to meet up with the deadline and whenever 10pm approached and I hadn't written anything, it would give me so much anxiety that on some days I simply couldn't write a thing.

SOLUTION: Calm yourself and let go of anything and everything that's stressing you or making you anxious. Take a walk, go out with friends and let your body relax. You could even take a few days off from writing and let your body ease out of all the stress. After this try writing something and just watch the magic.

6. Medical problems: Well I think this speaks for itself, anything from mental illnesses to physical issues or people that are recovering from illnesses may experience writers block because for some when they pick up a pen to write, they may just get dizzy or start feeling sick again.

Solution: All you can do is try and get better and when you do, get back to it.

There are lots of other reasons why a person could experience writers block but as for me it's almost always one of these reasons and the solutions are how I deal with them. Most times taking a break from writing or simply looking for a new form of inspiration will do you some good. Try reading a book that embodies your kind of writing style and let it reignite your passion for writing.

I hope this helps.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pkyp344lx","appParentAuthor":"martinstomisin","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
