I have around 90 shares now and every post gets a vote. It may not seem like much now but when Steem starts to climb the vote increases in value.</p>\n<p>The aim is to have enough shares to support you build your account. If you had 1000 shares you would be in a very strong position when Steem climbs back to $4 or more. I would guess your vote would be close to $10 then.</p>\n<p>As a recipient I would appreciate anything whether it was one share or more. As most of you here are already aware of, it takes a significant amount of time before one can breakeven their investment from SBI and make profit. </p>\n<p>The cool thing about it though is their sponsorship program which allows a Steem user to help another Steem user. In it's own subtle way, SBI is <strong>forcing you to interact with the Steem community</strong> since sponsorship is compulsory and since you also can't sponsor yourself.</p>\n<p>But to be completely honest here, I am still somewhat skeptical how this program will survive in the long run. Based on what I see, the liquid Steem/SBD one sent to SBI are being <strong>used to lease some SteemPower</strong>. This is all good assuming that there is a steady flow of people who want's to enter in the program and sponsor some Steemians. </p>\n<p>What happens when there is a decline in the demand for SBI shares?! Or worse, what happens when people stop altogether sending them liquid Steem/SBD?! They will then <strong>have no means to lease SP</strong> and with lots of users being enrolled in the program I suspect that there would be a huge decline in the upvote worth making it much more harder to breakeven one's investment. </p>\n<p>The program however poses no risk towards the one being sponsored on. So if you don't mind your investment taking some time to breakeven (<em>SBI upvotes are lifetime so you will eventually recover it back</em>) then go! Go do some SBI shares contests as it can really help planktons/minnows in the platform. It also increases one's community engagement level.
