I do not think most people believe that Africa is a single country. </p>\n<p>I often hear phrases like \"I want to go on a safari in Africa\", and when people say this, they do it because they don't really know where in Africa they should go for a safari, or even where it's possible. But I think most of them are indeed aware that there are lots of different countries. </p>\n<p>Aggregating countries into bigger groups is also a natural thing to do, even for other parts of the world such as Asia, Europe, or South America. The people who want to visit the Amazon often tend to say that they are going to the rain forest of South America, just like people say they are going on a safari in Africa. </p>\n<p>So again, people don't know the specific geological locations and what each of the countries have to offer, so they just aggregate it to say Africa. </p>\n<p><em>Keep in mind that this answer is written by someone from Europe; the answer might be completely different for an American person</em>. </p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkp4uy9d5","appParentAuthor":"golddeejay","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
