When over familiarity steps in, you fail to recognize authority and take people for granted. An example will be in the case of my pastor. He is so simple and humble that we have grown so familiar with him.

One day, he walked up to one of our meetings and we were all seated. There was no available seat and instead of standing up and giving him a seat we just sat down there smiling with him as usual. It was very disrespectful on our own part and that happened because we had grown so familiar with him that it clouded our recognitionnof who he is.

So over familiarity can really make us do things or address some people and situations in ways we wouldn't have in the absence of over familiarity. For example I will not throw a joke at my lecturer's shoe if over familiarity was not stepping in.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pksyej2aq","appParentAuthor":"citimillz","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
