One should not put all the eggs in one basket. Putting all the money in a single asset exposes the risk. If the asset does well, you can gain more, conversely if it loses, you will be left with no other option. So if you diversify and distribute the investment in several good assets, not all assets are going to fail simultaneously. So you can absorb the downside risk very well by making your investment diversified.</p>\n<p>Giving financial advice is really a tough task and not all do that. So I will not be in a position to tell whether it is good to buy bitcoin & altcoin or not. But I can tell one side of it more promisingly. The crypto market has already lost 85 to 90% of what it was in early 2018. So at this stage if someone enters, the downside risk is very less. So if someone invests, I may not say that it will be profitable or not, but I may say that the chances of losing are less. So make you own research to buy on a particular crypto asset and plan accordingly and invest that much which you can absorb in case of a loss.</p>\n<p>If you practice financial discipline in your life there are less chances of being stressed on account of bear crypto market or floating loss or realized loss. So do your home work properly and then decide on whether to buy or not. Diversification will play its role to help you to manage the down side risk.</p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"f3p4pdbyw","appParentAuthor":"ijoel","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |

Its market penetration and adoption is still negligible.</p>\n<p>With the passage of time as more and more people are aware of this technology, it is becoming more and more popular. </p>\n<p>Now even many countries has started accepting this as currency and many other are in the process of adopting.</p>\n<p>So in future a more countries will jump into it and it will gain more trust of people. Its value will also increase. </p>\n<p>Honestly speaking, Bitcoin and alt coins has lot of potential in it.
