Batu Caves is located in the Gombak District, l.k. 13 KM north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. To reach the top of the Hindu temple between stalactites and stalagmites, we must climb 272 steps.</p><p> Before climbing the stairs, our attention will be drawn to the stout god statue as high as 42.7 meters on the right side of the stairs. The statue was dedicated to Lord Murugan (Sri Murugan).</p><p> Murugan is the god of war, described as a young-looking god, riding a peacock and armed with a spear. The son of the god Shiva and brother of Ganesha is also known as KARTIKEYA or SRI SUBRAMANIAM.</p><p> It is said that the construction of the Murugan statue cost around 24 million Indian rupees. Made from 1550 cubic meters of concrete, 250 tons of steel bars and 300 liters of gold paint brought in from Thailand and completed in 3 years.</p><p> Murugan statue with 272 steps is very beautiful and amazing so it becomes a favorite place to take pictures of every visitor. On the front there is a fairly large area with hundreds of doves and dozens of tailed monkeys.</p><p> There are 3 main caves and some smaller ones. The largest is called the Cathedral cave or temple cave. Cave ornaments are filled with Hindu statues and paintings that tell the victory of the god Murugan. Ramayana Cave is located on the left. There is also a statue of Hanoman as high as 15 meters.
