Take distance.
\n
In the past, I tried to see things from their perspective and saw it as a challenge to improve myself. But there is a weird thing that happened. Because someone was constantly talking me down I started talking down to others as well, as it seemed righteous for me to do so. There were even people who cut me out of their life and only recently have accepted me back in.
\n
Here's the thing. If someone can only say negative things about you, it is out self interest. It can be jealousy or even hate. You might have something that person doesn't have. If this person has the best intentions with you, he will apologize, try to find a couple of positive things about you and be more considerate the next time. If he doesn't, you'd be better of without him in your life.
\n
Oh.. and of course, do something to get your mind of the situation. Art, music, anything that gets you up when you're down.
\n
#Lobi
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"fkqa82l5q","appParentAuthor":"artgirl","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"

@artgirl ·
What do you do when people only see the negative things in you and nothing of the good things you've done?

That's true. This particular person I am talking about got it from our new superior. I should probably let this person know because it looks like they are unaware of it.

You can let them know, but do keep in mind that them being unaware can put you in a more awkward position where they don't acknowledge your help or even misinterpret your intentions. If someone would have approached me 4 years ago with the info I have now, I might not have had a listening ear. Hope it works out. #Lobi

Well... They talk about management during their meetings so anything I and anyone else does gets reported anyway. And one at the top has learned of what I did. They can make it all about me or not, I can play devil's advocate all day. Lol.
