| json_metadata | "{"app":"musing/1.1","appTags":["politics","democracy","system"],"appCategory":"politics","appTitle":"Is democracy turning into oligarchy worldwide?","appBody":"<p>First of all I like to define the two forms or systems of government before I compare and contrast them. </p>\n<p><em>Democracy is a system of government in which people are allowed to exercise their electoral power so as to choose their representatives in the various offices of government or better still we can see democracy is a government by popular consent</em>. </p>\n<p><em>On the other hand Oligarchy is a government by the few or we can see oligarchy is government by special people or people who are rich that means a few people who have influence over government and interchanging power between themselves.</em></p>\n<p><strong>However these two systems of government are very different in objective and aims and do not even look similar</strong> so I definitely do not think democracy is turning into oligarchy because when you look at countries of the world you would see that there is always a periodic change in government, <strong>in America for example a black man categorically won the election and ruled for completely eight years and lawfully had the permission and support of the electoral college who voted him in and prior to that time America hasn't seen a black president so this isn't really a characteristic of oligarchy.</strong></p>\n<p>Oligarchy to me only resembles monarchy and I believe these two systems of government has gone into extinction so there is really no proof to show that democracy is becoming oligarchy <strong>since there is always a frequent changing and government and people still maintain their human rights and the ability to be vote and be voted for according to the constitution then I can't see any symbol of oligarchy, </strong>except maybe in countries that have been under rulership for many years and this ended with people like colonial Mummar Gaddafi whose rule lasted for 47 years. So I think oligarchy isn't nowhere near democracy and democracy is still the same</p>","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"pkdx366sq","appParentAuthor":"akdx","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}" |
