Give your reasons?","appBody":"
The difference between killing and murder is purely a legal one.
\n
Murder is a legally recognized term.
\n
All murder is illegal by definition.
\n
Legally, murder is a conscious act of killing a human person in an act that is not protected under the law of the land.
\n
While killing is just any kind of killing.
\n
Humans and non-humans alike can be killed.
\n
Only humans can be murdered.
\n
And for example,
\n
like I mentioned above,
\n
if the act of killing is protected under the law,
\n
it is not a murder.
\n
Some cases of killing in self-defense are not murder.
\n
Killing enemy combatants in act of war are not murder.
\n
State recognized capital punishment is not murder.
\n
Now.
\n
When it comes to human persons, it can be easily argued that ethically, or morally if you will, we should always do our best to not kill another human being, not matter the legal ramifications.
\n
We can be against murder, and against killing.
\n
But we need to recognize that sometimes killing is justified, or at the very least not malicious.
\n
Which is the reason we take circumstance, intent, and emotional state of a killer into account when determining ones guilt and punishment/rehabilitation.
\n
There's also the angle where we can discuss killing of non-human creatures.
\n
For one it is unethical to pick flowers, while for other it's okay to torture and eat dogs.
\n
There are many grey areas and different points of view on the justification of killing whatever living organism.
\n
You could write a book about the subject and after countless pages of analysis you would still not give the justice to every conceivable scenario.
\n
I will just state this.
\n
Killing/Murder of Humans ought to be treated separately from killing animals, plants, and other.
\n
Since we're talking about Murder vs. Killing explicitly, I am confident, since murder only applies to humans, there's no need to bring animals and plants into the discussion at this point.
\n
So to reiterate.
\n
Murder is all premeditated killing of a human person that is not sanctioned or protected by the law.
","appDepth":2,"appParentPermlink":"f3htbpnzq","appParentAuthor":"adenijiadeshina","musingAppId":"aU2p3C3a8N","musingAppVersion":"1.1","musingPostType":"answer"}"
